The Sinai wins back its camel races

(Tih desert) Scattered at the foot of the huge Tih plateau in the center of Sinai, the Bedouin tents are again adjacent to the circular path on which the traditional camel races take place after an interruption of more than six months, COVID-19.

Earlier this month it was announced that the Bedouins in South Sinai have finally received the green light from the Egyptian authorities to organize their camel races.

From that weekend on, almost 500 camels, men and women, surrounded by a huge cloud of dust, made their way to the enthusiastic screams of a few hundred men wearing traditional keffiyehs and galabeyas.
